Applying for Financial Aid
Riverbend School offers grants based on need for students enrolled in our Kindergarten through 8th grade. We use School and Student Services (SSS), which is administered by the National Association of Independent Schools, to process our financial aid applications. Based on the financial information you supply, SSS provides an estimated amount your family can contribute to educational expenses, which helps our school make fair and objective financial aid decisions. To begin your financial aid application for the 2012-13 enrollment year, please follow the steps below.

1. You may begin your application for financial assistance by going to www.sss.nais.org after November 1, 2011. All Financial Aid applications must be submitted online.
2. Click on the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). Only one PFS is required per family even if you have more than one child applying to our school.
3. You will be given a username and password allowing you to complete your PFS at a later date before submitting it. This is an encrypted site to ensure security.
4. At Riverbend, we also require a copy of your completed 2011 IRS 1040 tax return or estimated tax return, W2’s or 1090 forms and all other supporting schedules. To complete the PFS, use actual dollar figures from your 2011 IRS 1040. If your taxes are not completed, enter your closest approximation from W-2’s and 1099’s.
5. Tax forms can be submitted directly to SSS or may be sent directly to the Riverbend School. You must also submit a copy of your PFS form. A PFS must also be completed by non-custodial parents.

*To be considered for financial aid for the 2012-2013 school year, your application must be submitted by February 1, 2012.

Note: Financial Aid Applications can only be processed once our Admissions office has received the Admissions Application.

Key Dates in the Financial Aid Application process

By February 1, 2012:

• The Parent Financial Statement Application (PFS) must be completed at www.sss.nais.org
• A copy of your PFS form must be received by Riverbend’s Business Office

By February 15, 2012

• A copy of your 2011 IRS Form 1040 along with all supporting schedules must be received either by SSS or by Riverbend

By March 9, 2012:

• Decisions regarding financial aid are mailed to new families along with their acceptance letter and contract

By April 10, 2012:

• Signed grant letter, enrollment contract and tuition deposit are due back to Riverbend
